The Itchy and Scratchy Show!

I was itchy all day at work. (I feel like Kelly!) The itch was in my eyes and all over my body, but it was really bad on my forehead. My forehead. That weird, pointless, indestructible part of your body. And I scratched it raw. Because I'm an idiot. Also itchy: ears, toes, stomach, and my scalp.

I called and asked my husband if he'd been sprinkling me with itching powder while I was sleeping. He, of course, denied all knowledge of anything of the sort, but I managed to make him promise that he would stop sprinkling me with itching powder at night.

Of course I asked every person I ran across if they could tell if I were itchy. Their answers were various, and the data that I gathered is now being analyzed by Gallup. We should know in less than four weeks whether or not I looked itchy.

Upon returning home, the itch continued. I took 1 Benadryl (instead of the allowed 2), hoping to both stop the itch and remain awake enough to hang out with friends tonight.

I have failed in both cases. I'm still itchy and I can barely keep my eyes open. You're lucky that this post is actually being written.

Goals for tonight:
1) stop itching.
2) stay awake past 10.
3) not fall asleep on the couch, in my clothes, or with the light on.

Awww you poor thing. I've sadly faced the same predicament. Are you on any new prescription medication? The more anxious I became, the more I scratched. I found out I was mainly allergic to my medication (as well as sensitive to many things), but taking Atarax, an antihistamine specially recommended for skin allergic reactions, has helped me. 1 Benadryl wouldn't work, though. I'd take 2 if I were you. Then if it keeps up for more than a few days, I'd get myself to a doctor to determine the cause of the itching.

Ugh, nothing worse than itchy. Feels like you can never actually get TO the itch.

Good luck! :)

Kim - I think I'm allergic to tree pollen. Or something. Because nothing else has changed. I just hope it goes away soon!

Cin - it seems to be better this morning!

anne - thanks!

If you follow the link to Gallup's page - aside from having a great name, they also have a picture of a book entitled "how full is your bucket"

Now I have that song in my head "How full is your bucket, dear liza, dear liza ... "

even though those aren't the words.

I'm perpetually itchy, too, and I use Sarna Lotion a lot to put the fire out. I also take prescription meds for allergies because if I didn't, I would have no skin left. But try the sarna...it works.

Oh CRAP!

I just got over an intense itch that lasted for a month. I had no idea from whence it came...it just did and it was my own portable hell. I wish you none of that.

You hear me? NONE of that!

Oh NO! I hope you feel better and soon. I took some medicine before and all it made me was high as a kite and it took away NONE of the symptoms...

I use comtrex which seems to work for me and hubby.
