Not Only Do I Not Hate Akron At All, I'm Even UNPACKED.

I'm in Akron. I have Internet (Not AT&T. Long, dumb story. All about me being on hold/sitting at home waiting for service men who never showed for TWO DAYS/other boring stuff. You really should thank me for not telling it.). I have Cable. I even have TiVo. Which is damn busy recording all those Project Runways that I have missed due to... life. I'm watching some of them right now - I'm up to the dog episode. Don't talk to me about anything past that episode.

And. I'm guessing you want to know about Akron.

For starters, I'm living on the edge of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Which is G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. I had no idea that North East Ohio was this beautiful. Driving around the curves and up and down the steep hills that are all over this area makes me feel as if I'm back in Western Colorado driving around the canyons.

Second, the grocery store chain here in the Cleveland area? It's called the Giant Eagle. The first few times that I said its name, I said "Great Eagle" instead, and in my head, that made sense. Because the Great Eagle will bring food to her people (Yes, my mind is a weird place. It just works like that. I was a theology major in college.). For example, today, the Great Eagle brought me the ingredients for Chicken and Potato Fajitas. Also, Ben and Jerry's Fossil Fuel Ice Cream. You know, the basics.

Third, I actually think I'm starting to know my way around. And find my places. Matt was even able to find bars inwhich to watch the Tigers games before we had cable. And. Besides having both TV showing the Tigers games AND alcohol, the place was called the Winking Lizard. Which amuses me to no end.

Fourth, Matt even got me pretty flowers. Pink and yellow and white Snap Dragons and pink and yellow Asiatic Lillies. Because he knows I like things better when they're pretty. And have flowers in them.

Next, Sunday I get to meet Matt's boss for the year, and the rest of his coworkers. I'm excited and a little bit nervous.

And on Monday, when Matt goes to work, I start looking for a job. Which is both scary and exciting.

(PS: Tomorrow, when I upload pictures from my cellphone, and put together a post about last weekend's wedding, I'll post the recipe for those Pom Martinis. Because I got it out of the bartender. Which is why I totally rock.)

Woot! Woot! I'm so glad you arrived. I loved that Akron was so hilly. It even has all the rock walls (whatever they're called) that So. Mo has. I think I remember the mall being decent, too. You will have to report.

P.R: It is so much better when Michael K. comes back. While Vera is a great designer, Michael has such verbal skills. You just can't beat him! And..I'm not really sure how I lived my life before TiVo.

Akron sound beautiful and the fact that it's called the Winking Lizard pleases me too.

I heart TiVo and LOVE LOVE LOVE Project Runway. I promise not to give it away... :0) Can't wait for the recipe.

Akron is pimp. No wait. It's P-I-M-P. Spelling things out loud makes them cooler, in theory.

And um, can I come to Akron to see you? How many hours away? I mean, Winking Lizards, Great Eagles bringing fajitas, and forests? Dude.

PS: Matt + Flowers = Glorious. I heart Matt.

I saw something in Laguna Beach today and thought of you, but I forgot what it was. So I guess I will have to get back to you.

AND. BFF.

See, Rowdy Rattlesnake (or whatever the city's nickname is) ain't so bad after all. I'm sure Akron is starting to fall for you too.

I thought Detroit would falter just a little. I gotta admit, dem Tigers are the real-deal-holyfield.

I hope the job search goes smoothly and whoever gets to hire you should call themselves lucky!

Umm, did you say something about pictures? Hah, we internets are picture-obsessed.

Take care and hope everything is well.

Glad you are doing so well and taking to Akron. LOL, Great Eagle is definitely a better name than Giant Eagle.

Blah, blah, blah. I'm glad you are happy and so on and so forth, but it is still boring in cubeland without you.
Glad it is better than you thought though. :-)

I hear Akron's pretty hip. That's where my great-aunt lives. She's really into twirlers. As in: batons. No, seriously. She is. Want me to hook y'all up?

;-)

Yay! Glad to hear that things are going up up UP -- especially considering that I know EXACTLY how it feels to just up and go somewhere. Screw the "I'm adjusting nicely" idea. It's the "Whew! Thank fucking GOD this didn't kill me" relief that I favored the most.

It's about time. I've ben sitting here hitting refresh for almost three days now. You know, cause I have lots of room to talk when it comes to blog absenteeism.

And I'd like to have the address of The Winking Lizard, so I can sue them for stealing my college nickname.

Just moved from Columbus, OH to VA. So miss Giant Eagle! I also miss Graeter's ice cream which you have to see if there is one in your area. They only have stores in OH but some of the Giant Eagles sell their ice cream. Try the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. You won't be sorry! I really miss Ohio.

Good to have you back in your pink shoes. Akron sounds perrrty. I bet your energgy bill isn't even $500 dollars either!

Also, the winking lizard is totally my new nickname for you-know-what. Chris will be so pleased.
