This is the call up box in my kitchen. Which seems to be as old as my apartment building itself - and the apartment building was built in 1927.
Note the wires, which have been spliced together many times. Note also the lack of key pad, denoting that when you pick up the ear piece, you are automatically connected to the operator - or in my case, the doorman. Did you hear me mention ear piece? Yeah, because you pick up the little circle guy, and hold it to your ear while speaking into the round voice receiver in the center of the box. Like in really old movies.
(Everything about our apartment is awesome. Did I mention that there are 5 closets in the place? Yeah. It's great. And the move went well. Thanks for asking.)

That call box looks like an electrocution waiting to happen. Call the super and tell him/her that your mother would like the wire replaced and does not want a fried daughter or son-in-law. Glad the move went well. Love, Mom
Can I tell you again how jealous I am of your apartment!!!
Anyways, welcome to the city.
AHahaahahahahahahah! I LOVE your mom's comment. I want a call box too!!! Yay! I'm so excited for you! Today I had a mini fantasy that you might have gotten a job here already and that we'd be able to have lunch dates. Is that too stalker-y?
Anywhoo. Have fun nesting and good luck with the job hunt.
I love it!
"Watson, come in here, I need you."

Good news on all fronts.
And I so want to come over and play Star Wars on that thing.
That's awesome, I can't believe it still works!!!
OK, not to sound like your Mom, but seriously, don't touch that cord. I mean, you have been known for freak accidents and injuring yourself.
Other than that, your apartment sounds awesome!
I am with your mom on the accident waiting to happen. You can see how split the cord is. But it would be really cool to have that kind of stuff in your apartment. It adds so much character. Glad to hear your move went well.
That is sweeeeet. More pictures, please. :-)
