I was busy at my desk Friday afternoon. My boss was out of town at a meeting, and I was getting a lot of things done (a lot of things, but I wasn't able to e-copy Dominik's lovely picture he drew for me... Monday....). So, imagine my surprise when I poke my head out of my cube at 4 and I'm the ONLY PERSON LEFT IN THE DEPARTMENT. Everyone had gone. We do have flex time at my company, but this was ridiculous. My first thought was, "Wow. It's quiet. I could get so much done!" My second, much saner thought was, "I should get the hell out of here!"
Five minutes later I was in my car. The commute home was fantastic, no cars anywhere. I should leave at 4 every day.
Last night my friend JW threw a party at her new house. She had karaoke set up in the garage - and the karaoke CDs that she had were "Old School Hip Hop," "The Grease Soundtrack," "70's R&B" and "Party Favorites". Which couldn't have been better choices. The Three Idiot Girls and Jen started out with all the Grease that the rest of the party could handle, and when the crowd had been warmed up with multiple renditions of "Hopelessly Devoted" (with appropriate John Travolta impressions) JD took over with "Baby Got Back" - intro by me, of course. Who could say "She looks like a total prostitute!" better than me? If there had been video, JD would not have been able to show up for work on Monday. It was that good. CS's manly cousin Matt (http://slowlyboilingfrog.blogspot.com) sang "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and knew the words too well to even glance at the monitor. My husband introduced himself to my work friends with "Me and Mrs. Jones" - sung to much critical acclaim. I hope that JW hosts many more similar parties - I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
And now I'm watching the Irish hopefully beating up on Ty's new team. Go ND!!
