Best of the Week:

Best recipe: Kitty Can Scratch Cosmo

Best quote of the week: "Marcia, you say 'F-' as often as normal people say 'the!'" - Court

Best Dem news of the week: It's a toss-up between the Harriet Miers withdrawl and Scooter Libby's indictment.

Best game to play this time of year: Name the costume of the random (uncostumed) man on the street (i.e. Escaped Lunatic, College Professor circa 1960, etc.).

Best thing to do with the extra hour today: Sleep!

Hey Marcia, love the blog! Makes sitting in law school classes entertaining. Just wanted to say hi-- didn't realize that you were in St. Louis-- that's where I'm at!

I could not disagree with your ‘Best Dem News’ more. As a committed Conservative, I have to say I was delighted to see Miers withdraw and Bush nominate someone who will draw the Democrats out into a battle that they will only end up losing. As far as Scooter Libby goes, it is hilarious how a) nobody seems to understand the actual charges and b) how excited the Dems have been about this non-event. The Special Prosecutor found that the law was not broken in the whole Joe Wilson / Valerie Plame kerfuffle as is commonly assumed. In fact, Scooter was indicted on charges stemming from events that allegedly transpired AFTER Fitzgerald started his investigation. That leads me to this delightful set of quotes from everyone’s favorite haughty, French-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by the way served in Vietnam*.
“Is there no one finding a countervailing proportionality in this case when confronted by our own congressionally created Javert who is not just pursuing a crime but who is at the center of creating the crime which we are deliberating on now?”
"Think about it," Kerry continued. "When [the independent counsel] was appointed, when we authorized an independent counsel, when the grand jury was convened, the crime on trial before us now had not even been committed, let alone contemplated."
-John Kerry. Feb. 12, 1999

"Today's indictment of the vice president's top aide and the continuing investigation of Karl Rove are evidence of White House corruption at the very highest levels, far from the 'honor and dignity' the president pledged to restore to Washington just five years ago."
-John Kerry. Friday
