Jessica McClintock, What Were You Thinking??

I almost bought this dress today.

Now, the pictures don't do it justice. There are gathers, and flounces, and bows, and fake flowers, and yards and yards of shiny, reflective, unflattering fabric. And oh yeah, it had a train:

The really sad thing is that in the car on the way home, we realized with the extra 30% off they were giving us (ummm... I got little Coach sneakers for $12.25 and some Antonio Melani lime green skimmers for 13.82 - a total savings of $118.93 off the original prices), the dress would have been $13.99. I could have brought it home and scared people with it, then made... decorative pillows or something. A shiny, uncomfortable pink baby blanket. Curtains. A table cloth. The possiblities are endless. And hideous.

The pictures would have looked hilarious in 30 years.

Seriously, there ought to be a law dealing with reflective fabric. Who thinks up this stuff?

Oh my God. No way! How did that dress even come into being?!

Whoever the model is ... she's hot.

And maybe I'm part gay but the dress looks kinda cute if you ask me. Though I have no idea where you would wear it.

Wow, 15 bucks? I thought haute couture was expensive? Look at me drop the french.

Where the hell did you find Coach sneakers for that price? Oh yeah, the dress is ugly, but hilariously ugly.

When I first saw the pics I thought that you were forced into being a bridesmaid for someone who really didn't like you!
Hilarious dress but sorta sad at the same time.

Ummmm....Coach sneakers for $13?

Maybe the dress would be nice in a non-Pepto Bismol color.

Where are you buying coach for $13? Your readers want to know!

tg8 - wow. I should pay you to hang around me and say things like that all the time.

And the purchases were made at this "Dillards' Basement" place. It's like Filene's Basement, but... Dillards. And you should see the formal dress that I DID buy (for $20.82). It makes my boobs look awesome!

I have rules about dresses: nothing reflective, nothing with bows (although they aren't on your boobs, and I have personal experience with pink bows on boobs at a wedding), and no fake flowers. I'm surprised I'm saying this, but the best thing about the dress is it's color, and I refused to wear anything pink for 15 years. However, this would be a great dress to wear to a theme party of some sort.

The pictures really don't do the dress justice. It was so, umm, shiny, and flouncy. I'm sure it is still there. We can totally go back and get it.

this had to have been inspired by a barbie dress I swear I had. No other explanation.
