Back from The Kron

And yes, The Kron is what we're now officially calling Akron.

And surprisingly, I went in with an upbeat attitude - we had some areas of Akron to check out that sounded fun and exciting. I thought it was going to be fine. I kept telling myself it was going to be fine.

And, predictably, I HATED it. Seriously, I cried. I am a pathetic girl.

But, looking back, I think it was more of a reaction to the stress I'm feeling about finding a job for one year, the thought of uprooting my life, basically putting my plans on hold for a year, so my husband can take this fabulously exciting, important, logical-to-his-career, ridiculously prestigious job. One of the areas we looked at was really cute, and I'm excited to find a cute little apartment there. But... I'm still nervous. I mean, the people in Akron could hate me, and I'd have no friends for a year.

On a good note, though, while flipping radio stations on the way back to Toledo today, I stopped on what I thought was Baby Got Back. But NO. It was.... Baby Got Book.

I praise you. YOu are a brave soul. I could not move to a random place for a year and try to put a smile on my face. YOu might end up really liking it. Give The Kron a chance. And remember, it is only for a year.

Moving to where you don't have friends seriously sucks! However, it is just a year. Bubba and I moved to No. Cal. from So. Cal. three years ago and we are now starting to make new friends. It took almost two years for it to feel like home to us up here rather than down there (does that make sense?).

The only two things I like about moving to a new area are there are lots of new places to eat at and new stores to shop at. It bites at first but you'll get use to it.

Oh Marcia darling, you aren't pathetic. You already have a cute name for Akron and really do seem to be trying to put the best possible spin on things. It SUCKS to move to a less than exciting place for one year. Heck I pouted for well over a year about mid-Mo (it still comes out every once in a while when I'm peeved with the mister) Anyways, I think being willing to move to the Kron means you deserve new shoes. I'll be awaiting pictures.

I'm with the above commenters. And I will come visit you in Akron! We can go shoe shopping--I mean there must be at least ONE cute shoe boutique there, right? And fortunately, you are one of those people who makes friends wherever they go, so you'll have no trouble finding people. (And when you're done with Akron, you're moving HERE!!!)

Oh sweetie. I'm so sorry that you're not excited about The Kron. Just remember that it's only a year, you have a great husband to hang out with, and I'm sure you'll make friends. How could anyone not be friends with you?! And you'll be in a fabulouso city in a year. And that's always something to look forward to! I hope you feel better about the move soon!

I really hope I'm still in Manhattan when you finally move here. It would suck if I left just as you got here.

I found your blog through some celebrity gossip blog :) I live right near Akron in a town called Cuyahoga Falls, moved here from Pennsylvania a few years ago...Have you found a place yet? It's not that awful I suppose if you have friends or family in the area, which I DO NOT. I hate it here.
