What Not To Do:

I've just seen an ad on tv for "Little Women: The Musical."

Does anyone else think that this is a HORRENDOUS idea?

I went to the list of songs

One is "Take a Chance on Me" - and I can't stop thinking they're going to burst into ABBA. I can't bring myself to click in and listen to it.

although truthfully, on paper "Assasins" the musical sounds like a horrendous idea. In actuality, it rocked!

The more I thought about this, who ever thought turning "Les Miserables" into a musical would be a good idea? So maybe the world isn't about to end? Or maybe I'm just waaaaaay too hopeful.

I've actually heard some of the songs from Little Women, and they're not bad.

hey cia, it's gan. i just heard a song from it today in boston's regional auditions for the Metropolitan Opera. Not as bad as I would have expected. Though that soprano didn't advance to the finals in nyc... and she was even wearing a pink dress.

as a sidenote, excellent blog. i really should stop by more often. take care.

I'm not sure what I think about it. I'm generally opposed to turning great works of literature into anything else, though I did enjoy the movie of LW.

Well, this will be a case where I'd be more likely to go to the musical than read the book. Great shoes in the post below!

Well, I must admit, I have actually seen the musical version of Little Women on Broadway. I went with my two cousins, one of whom is an actress and producer here in Manhattan. The music wasn't memorable, but it wasn't bad either. And, of course, the storyline was great.
