Things Are Not Going Well:

Imagine that my uterus is a big, burly, scary man. Beating me mercilessly with a crowbar.

Also, there is puking.

And remember, I'm allergic to Advil, Asprin, and Anything That Actually Stops Pain. I took 5 doses of Extra Strength Tylenol before 11am. I officially have no liver.

Excedrin, Motrin, or Aleve?

Yow, I'm sorry. I hate that feeling.

I sure hope you're feeling better soon. Being sick sucks the big one!

Sorry to hear you're under the weather Marry Mar. I'm no Gyno (seriously, do you ladies call them Gynos?) but maybe you should get that looked at or something. Puking cannot be a good sign.

Seriously Marcia, I hope you feel better and fast.

Why does your uterus hate you so?

That doesn't seem right.

"Oh.... feel betto Cia."
That was Helene talking, by the way!

Maybe you need to get an ultrasound and see what's going on. Puking is not right. Have you ever tried those Thermacare packs. I loooove them!

Oh poo. Sorry sweetie, hope that Tylenol kicks in soon.

WOW, what an awful allergy.

Ouch. Get better soon. As the new sufferer of a motherfucking cold, I sympathize.

kim - no Naproxen. I'm allergic to all NSAIDS, so unless I get a big ol' shot of steroids, I'm screwed.

v - be happy you're a man. puking is pretty normal. EW.

DoggerelBlogger - that's a good question!

Kelly - I LOVE Helene!!

Summer - the docs just say I'm too small for what my uterus wants to put me through every month. Which sucks, but it's usually not this bad.

Anne - NO! Not at all!!!

Ick. Not fun. Sorry to hear that. Can't you kick the burly main in the balls?

Unknown said...

Is it really your uterus? That doesn't sound so good. Maybe a visit to the doc is in order...

I was going to suggest Aleve, too, and then I saw your response. I can't imagine getting through my period without Aleve. I'm so sorry! Do you have a heat pack or something?

I tried to find remedies in the Herb and Supplement Handbook, and some other CAM books. I found that Vitamin E may help as well as Fennel Seed.

(great big internet hug) Sorry no decent pain relievers work for you, I hope tomorrow is a better day for you!

Ouch, sorry to hear about the pain. Especially after the birthday. Here's something to think about -- from a humble doc-in-training's perspective...

I take it that you have tried tylenol (a non-NSAID pain reliever?)

Also, second generation pain relievers like celebrex (selective COX-2) are also thought to be ok in people with NSAID allergies.

What happens when you take the stuff? Do you get major hives and wheeze? Go bezerk and start kicking your husband or what?

PS This is Theresa's husband... think Deweys pizza.

Oops.. missed the liver comment. Dismiss my tylenol comment. I will remove foot from mouth now.

thanks for the encouragement, everyone... I'm finally feeling better. I've even managed to eat some applesauce and saltines! And call in sick to work, preemptively. Because DAMN IT, if there's something more important than work, it's feeling all the way better for the BALL I have to attend tomorrow, and for my friend coming in to see me tomorrow for lunch!!

Also, Mike, think anaphylactic shock, with a breathing tube down my throat... I don't think I've tried celebrex, but I totally will make my GP give me some to try next time...

I feel your pain -- month after cruel month. My freshman year in college, I spent whole afternoons in fetal position on the dorm bathroom floor. Have you ever used the Playtex Heat Therapy patches? GIFT OF THE GODS.

Also, do you go to an obgyn? I have a great one in the CWE; she's very proactive. Email me if you want her #.

Wow - I thought I was the only puker with cramps. Seriously, good to see someone else who can feel my pain... literally.

I actually just wrote about throwing up a few post ago - if you feel like reading it. Then do.

I like your blog - I think I'll even bookmark it!
