Happy Anniversary To Me! (And Matt!)

It's an interesting one, since we're in a new city. But we're headed out to this place at the suggestion of Matt's boss (she says it's the nicest, most romantic place in the entire region.)

It was fun figuring out gifts for each other - the first anniversary gift is traditionally paper, so Matt got me this, this, this, and this. I LOVE them all, especially the hardbound Elements of Style - it's full of enchanting illustrations of the most off beat examples. AND. On the endpapers? When you open the book up? It says, hello. And appropriately, on the last three pages, "thank you", "and", and "goodbye."

Pretty perfect if you ask me.

I was stressing out as to what to get Matt, and I asked Kat, and she suggested that I make a mobile with paper cranes on it - and I did:

Mobile

The cranes are made out of maps of places we've been together. Where we went to college, Paris, London, our hometowns, St. Louis, and Akron. I was terrified of making the mobile, but after about an hour in the craft store, I was confident enough to make it - and I think it looks really cool. It's hanging above our dining room table, and I get chills every time I see it. And, fortunately, Matt thinks it's special.

The best news about our anniversary? We still like each other. We pretty much still think each other is the best thing since sliced bread.

(Also. I've got a chance, hopefully, to write professionally. I don't want to jinx it, just keep your fingers crossed for me for the next week or so...)

Congratulations! What fun anniversary gifts! Elements of Style is probably the very best book in the world after The Bible...and I'm intrigued by Mommies Who Drink. I may have to pick that one up myself.

Great job on the cranes. They look lovely.

Happy First Anniversary!!! I hope you are enjoying yourselves right now.
I LOVE your mobile and the idea about the maps. What did you make the cross pieces out of? What kind of string and glue did you use? Basically... how did you make it?
And I have my fingers crossed regarding the writing. That is SO VERY EXCITING!!

Congratulations! My 17th anniversary is in 6 days, so I know the importance of still liking each other. ;) (Ok, I must tell you that my husband is sitting here as I write this and he said,"Still licking each other?" So. Obviously we're doing ok. Perv. LOL) Love the mobile!

Congratulations to you both! I LOVE the crane mobile. So thoughtful, and so beautiful

Our first anniversary is coming up in October, and I was thinking about getting theater tickets, since they are made out paper. But now I'm inspired to try to make something beautiful.

(p.s. crossing my fingers for you and your writing gig)

The Hardcover Elements of Style, that was sweet and cute. But the origami with the maps of places you've visited --- that's gotta be a new cuteness record. I'm just going to have to bottle the two of you up and make money off of your superpower of adorability.

Seriously Marse, what a magical gift ... you go girl. Congrats to the both of you!!

PS - what, no SaoP review?

Whatever -- the blowjob coupons idea I gave you would have been more interesting. ;)

I know I'm late to this party, but CONGRATS!!!! Those gifts are really awesome, you two are just way too cute for words :) Fingers and toes crossed about the job, and I totally understand not wanting to jinx it--a little paranoia can be somewhat healthy, at least that's what I tell myself :)
