It Was About Time.

Yesterday, in a flurry of activity caused by boredom, I applied for E.V.E.R.Y. S.I.N.G.L.E. job on craigslist that I could see myself working at without mortal despair for at least 6 months.

And within an hour, I got a call back from one of the most random jobs I'd applied for: working at a bridal shop.

Which is a job, I have to say, that I would rock.

Next week, I also have an interview for teaching at a standardized test prep place. I'm not sure if ever before have two such antithetical interviews been in such proximity - one interview completely academic, the other, completely frivs.

As both are part time jobs, in an ideal world, I would get both of them. And be able to spend time every week both lecturing to students from Power Point slides and suggesting perfect wedding dresses and veils for stressed out brides.

And the best thing? No matter what, in a year, I'll be done with both jobs.

Let me know if you get the teaching gig. I'll come down and be a guest speaker.

I'm so jealous of the bridal shop gig. There can be no more hellacious job in retail than dealing with Bridezillas. But the potential for blog fodder and ridicule is jealousy-inducing.

The bridal shop gig sounds awesome! I keep applying on Craig's List but I never hear anything!!

I'd love to work in a bridal shop--as long as they could guarantee that I'd be off on all holidays, weekends, and evenings, and would never have to deal with freight or inventory ;)

Good luck with the interviews!

We all know you'd totally rock at both jobs.

And if you have to suggest to some of your students (or bridal customers) that they have to increase their extracurricular reading ... you can always recommend Slate.

Yes, my obsession with Slate is getting scary.

You would be great at either. But I hope you get the bridal shop job, because it will be such fodder for your blog, as miz shoes said.

Antithetical? I thought I was the only one who likes to quote the dictionary.

If you get the job at the bridal shop will you take pictures of ugly dresses that people actually buy? Because that would be awesome.
