I Voted, Did You?

I rarely, if ever, get political on this blog, even though politics is something that I'm very passionate about.

Today is election day. A non-Presidential election day. So why should you vote?

Becuase this election will shape the course of politics for the next two years. Who we elect today will tell the powers that be what course we want the country to take. True, we're not electing a president today, but the results of this election will help decide who even runs for president in 2008.

I've written a lot more and erased it, because I don't want my initial message to be clouded. Even if you don't vote in every race, or on every issue, go to the polls today and vote for the people and issues that you care about. Even if you haven't thought about voting since 2004, you're still registered, you can still go to the polls. Google your city's Board of Elections, and find your polling place. And go there, and vote. (Hell, it's an off cycle election, there shouldn't even be a line. It couldn't be easier.)

(AND. Keep your fingers crossed that my dad gets re-elected! And. If you're in my home town? Do more than cross your fingers. Go vote for him!)

If I lived in your hometown, I would vote for your dad!
I early voted here in Chicago last week.

Haven't gotten out to vote yet. Have to wait until this afternoon after the hubby gets home from work so we can take turns sitting in the van with the kiddos.

We WILL get out and vote, though. Too much at stake not to vote.

I don't know your dad, but I'd probably vote for him just cuz he's your dad. :)
I agree about the importance of this election, we HAVE to have our voices heard. I just hope that people who vote do so with KNOWLEDGE and not just because of what party someone belongs to. I think I voted for at least 5 different party's this time. I wish we had 5 major parties!

What Jane said. Plus if you're interested in progressive issues check out the Green Party.

I voted a week or two ago thanks to the absentee voter program.

I hope your Dad wins.

I voted... I don't know if my vote will count, since there is no paper record of it (and I live in Florida where we are notorious for not counting votes). But, I am hopeful.

Also, I hope your dad wins (dem. or rep.) ....

A lot of people were really concerned about this election to be sure. In a good way. It's been very interesting to hear all the different sides.

Though of course, I will not be sad to see all of the commercials and phone calls and mail go...

My family was very excited to see how your dad was doing on the news Election night. In Douglas County, Colorado, many voters had to wait 2 or 3 hours to vote (I was one of them)!
