Fruit of the Gods?

I bought a pomegranate yesterday.

I don't know why. It was big and red and shiny. I had to have it.

And now I'm going to eat it.

Pomegranates!!! Oh I love them!! So good aren't they? Did you enjoy it?

Here via Michele's tonight! :)

While eating the pomegranate, I noticed that the produce sticker said, "Top on ice cream!"

Now... Pomegrante doesn't really seem to me to be the ice cream topping kind of fruit. It seems more like the nibble on 6 seeds and have to spend half of each year married to HADES kind of fruit...

OMG, I love those things and you know why I don't eat them? cause they're too darn messy and I have this thing about messy hands. yucky sticky grrr. if you could eat them with a knife and fork I'd be all of them like bears on picnic baskets! just popping in from Michele's!

Fantastic experience - eating a pomegranate with a pin. That's how we always ate them as children!

Wish I'd seen this piccie *before* I went to the supermarket :-(

Oohhh... Markus... seriously, tell me how to make some! I have 2/3 of a pomegranate that I'm not going to eat!

Muse, it's tough flesh surrounding jewel like seeds filled with juice. It's a messy (and kind of unrewarding) fruit, but a fun experience!

I love that color! I bought some paint to jazz up a chest I bought a flea market. I was going for exactly that color.

It's the food of the dead, right?

Stopping by to say hello....

Now. Suddenly. I want a pomegranate. And yes, I do blame you.

However, before I treck to the store to buy one, I must first add you to my blogroll.

It looks like a Xmas Tree decoration. One that's seen a lot and did two tours in 'nam.

I get similar urges when I pass the banana stand at the supermarket, but mine are undoubtedly more carnal than yours.

I'm the dissenter. I don't like pomegranates. The first time I ever had one I ended up getting sick (not because of the fruit because of some germs) and I threw-up all the pomegranate that I had eaten and let me tell you, it scarred me for life.

Roll the edge of a wet martini glass in sugar. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 parts vodka and 1 part pomegranate juice. Shake and strain into the sugared glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

I guess I'm like e-liz, because a friend got me into pomegranates my senior year in college and I ate like 4 in one week and I seriously felt nauseous for the next entire week....and I haven't eaten one since. They always look so gorgeous, but then I remember that bad "too much pomegranate" feeling and the urge to buy one leaves me completely. Too bad, really.

Many fruit basket recipients find themselves puzzling over how to use their baskets. If you find yourself in this head-scratching crowd, consider these fantastic options: Many families designate each family member a basket, allowing them to pick up their items left around the home. This is a great idea, since you can keep things better organized and teach all family members (even the adults) tidiness.
