Inwhich I'm Not That Girly

Now, this comes as a surprise to most, but, I'm not that girly. Ok, well, I AM. I do wear skirts on an almost constant basis, my average shoe heel is 3 inches, my outfits are always cute and I've taken some time to pull them together. Hell, I even switch between my 600 purses like I'm changing socks.

BUT. I don't wear make-up. Or do much with my hair. Last month I had an extra minute before work, and I threw on some navy blue eyeliner (blue liner brings out brown eyes. I do know what I'm doing with make-up, I just... Don't.) and E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E. mentioned it to me. It was like the news of the day, "Marcia's wearing eyeliner today!" I do wear lipstick or lipgloss at least everyother day, but that's the extent. I don't even think I own foundation anymore.

On to what inspired this story. My hair is long and black and straight. There's approximately zero body in it, and it's easy to deal with. Most of the time it's back in what Vogue would call a "chic chignon" - except Vogue probably would frown on the fact that the chignon is held up with a pencil. Yesterday after work I took a shower and was about to go out to dinner with my husband, and he forced me to go back and dry my hair (as the temperature outside was below freezing), and I realized it was the first time in over a year that I'd used my hair dryer. And that I'm not exactly sure where my curling iron is right now.

Sometimes I think that I should change this - that I should spend 5 minutes in the morning on either my hair or makeup, thinking it might give me a more "finished" look, but then I remember that... well, in the mornings, I like my sleep.

Faboo SECOND post o the day, Marcia. ;o)

You know what? You do what makes you feel right. Obvy hubby was just concerned you'd catch cold, not unhappy with your appearance.

I am a serial chignon wearer, too. Don't let em getcha down!

I can't be bothered to put on makeup or do my hair for work. This is primarily because my office refuses to hire attractive men.

On the weekends, however, it is a different story. I cannot go out at night without eyeliner.

I treasure my sleep as well, this means that the hair goes into a ponytail, a clip, or a chignon ASAP when I get up, and I spend approximately 2.5 minutes putting on eyeshadow, mascara, lip gloss, and occasionally bronzer.

I don't even OWN a hair dryer or curling iron!

Yet another reason we are the same person, I don't wear make-up either, as you well know. I do love to buy make-up though.

Why not let the bloggers decide? Post a "with" and "without" picture, and we can vote.

On second though, I think this is just a "waist-down" blog, because I've only seen pics of your pants and feet.

I got a question for yall:

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

On days I have to shave (which is like every other) it takes me like 1 hour.

I have a theory ... hairy guys have to groom the most.

I envy you natural beauties that don't have to wear makeup. Keep it simple, purity is exotic :)

We are polar opposites on this one.
I spend the time on hair and makeup but don't wear skirts or really cute shoes except for when I go to church on Sunday. You will always find me in jeans, a tshirt and vans.
Maybe I should start varying my wardrobe....

This is another example of our Marcia and I somehow are exact opposites, despite being sisters. I wore a skirt and knee-high boots to work on Friday, and people I'd never talked to before commented on it. I always go to work in pants or scrubs and comfortable (read, not cute) shoes, and 99% of the time my hair is in a ponytail without bothering to dry it first, so it's still wet that night when I get home. That being said, though, I do wear makeup every day. At least a little concealer and blush. And eyeliner if I want to look extra cute for a hot resident.

Ok, hi. We're friends now. You're funny and I like funny.

Now, that that's out of the way - I can't believe you don't even wear foundation! I am jealous. I wish I had the courage.

And the hair - oh my. If I let it dry naturally...let's just say your puppies could play happily in it for hours. It would be that voluminous. Jealous. Again.

Hmm...

Okay as a person that not only DOESN'T have a curling iron, I know exactly what you are talking about. My outfits for the most part always rock and I LOVE shoes and purses and doing things that are just a tad bit different from everyone else, but my hair mystifies me.

I highlighted it about 3 months ago and that's it. I wash it and let it dry naturally, and if I want to make it special, I um~ um~ ahh~ hmmm... brush it?!

I do wear some make-up mostly lip gloss, I've become petrified of lipstick.

It's funny but red/pink bring out hazel eyes...

I know that I COULD do more but I really don't WANT too, I just want to sleep or drink my coffee and blog, I really wouldn't even know where to start.

(really digging your blog...)

The big problem with showing all y'all before and after pictures is my lack of makeup. I seriously don't have the makeup anymore. Maybe someday I'll show ya...
