One of the things that I've been stressing about lately is my article for Fetch, the magazine that Kat and I are putting together. I'm writing what could be called a "Domestic Diva" column, and it's been hard for me to see myself as someone with that label. It's true that I call myself a "Goddess in the Kitchen" and I'm extremely crafty, but something about being a modern, well educated, working woman and being Martha Stewart were held in opposition in my head.
But then I realized that this is exactly what Fetch is there for. Exactly what kind of demographic we're trying to reach. Women who will read Fetch are going to have the same issues that I do with domesticity vs. Manolos. With wearing a power suit while cooking dinner. With being respected as a man's equal while still being able to cook him a dinner that looks and tastes like you've done nothing but cook for a week - without actually working that hard.
And so I was able to start writing.
And I think it's going to be damn good. I've gotten all excited all over again.

Sounds awesome! Can't wait to read it!
Excited for ya! I'm sure we are all awaiting this with breathless anticipation. No pressure or anything, though. ;)
Considering the source, I can only expect it will be magic.
It will defy the limits of ordinary English...
It will be SCRUMPTULESCENT!
(And there will be much rejoicing.)
I'm so excited to read this :-)
That one paragraph is so deep and meaningful!
Again, I'm excited to be a devoted reader.
I'm really thrilled that y'all are doing this. I really think there is a demographic out there of women who want to FEEL just as adept in our own homes as we do on the job.
p.s. let me pass along the chef as a possible wine asset to you if you can ever use all the amazing factoids he has crammed into his big sexy brain.
very exciting!!!
I think most women have that same struggle and it's perfect to be able to write about it from that angle. I want to make my husband happy by cooking but I don't want the whole Leave it to Beaver thing.
Can't wait to read it.
Your column is going to rock.
I am already a regular reader.
I read Virenda's comment and read...
I don't want to leave it to Beaver or anything... and I wondered what her beaver had to do with anything... I thought, now that's the Martha Stewart of the bedroom... Is it hot in here? Is it late? Um...
what I was going to say is,
YAY!
The good thing is that even if you become felonious you have a brilliant lawyer husband to defend you.
